Luke's Story
On March 31, Luke David Baldwin arrived at 10:14pm at 19 inches, 6 pounds, 15 ounces just after week 37. At 11:00am on March 31, Lisa and David arrived at Scripps Hospital for a pre-natal visit and upon sitting on the delivery bed, Lisa's water broke - how convenient! Over the next 10 hours Lisa pushed, ate ice chips, and then began to have a fever which topped at 101.7. The delivery doctor decided to opt for a C-section due to Lisa's fever and Luke's reaction. On delivery, both Lisa and Luke had an infection and both were immediately put on antibiotics. Lisa recovered in her room from the infection and C-section experience while Luke recovered in the Neonatal ICU where he would be on antibiotics for 7 days. While Luke was in the ICU the doctor's noticed that his Calcium was low and that Luke had jaundice. So, more tests and Luke was put under the lights. The infection is now gone along with the jaundice, and his Calcium has recovered to a normal range. However, we will still need to follow his Calcium as he is on supplements and do not know if he has fully recovered until all the tests come back and he is off supplements. So, please pray as they check his blood almost daily to rule out diseases. So, far everything is coming back normal, but we still have a couple weeks to go until we're really "out of the woods." Luke came home April 8 and was welcomed by Grandma and Grandpa Baldwin on April 9. Grandma and Grandpa Johnson will be arriving in June. We are enjoying our little guy and so glad God has continued his faithfulness! Like our wedding day verse, we believe this statement is also true with Luke: "This is the Lord's doing, and it is marvelous to see - Mark 12:11" SEE BELOW FOR MORE PICTURES
